Broad definition of smoking includes “other lighted smoking equipment that burn other weed or substance.” Smoking prohibited within 25 m of the following: Outdoor Venues (for worship, entertainment, recreation, business or amusement), playgrounds, playing fields, a place at which a Sporting Event (with admission by ticket) is occurring, in transit shelters and on school property. Smoking is also prohibited within 6 m of doorways, air intakes and operable windows of places to which the public is ordinarily invited or permitted access.

Definitions
“Smoke” or “Smoking” means to inhale, exhale, burn or carry a lighted cigar, cigarette, pipe or other lighted smoking equipment that burns tobacco or other weed or substance but does not include the carrying of lighted incense or other lighted smoking equipment used solely for ceremonial or religious purposes.

Policy Analysis
This is leading edge because it includes other weeds and substances in the definition of smoking. Furthermore, this also prohibits smoking within 6 m of the doorways, air intakes and operable windows of all workplaces. However, 6 m is not a great enough distance to prevent the smoke from entering buildings, creating a nuisance or health hazard for people entering and exiting. At least 7 m is recommended based on outdoor SHS scientific research.
